Blessing of Throats Feb. 4-5

In honor of the Feast of St. Blaise (February 3rd) we will bless throats after each Mass at both St. Bernard and St. Matthew on Saturday, February 4th and Sunday, February 5th. Through this blessing we pray for the intercession of St. Blaise to protect us from illnesses of the throat and all other illnesses. We pray that both our spiritual and physical bodies will be made pure and healthy so that we may better serve our God in life and love.

Prison Ministry Opportunity

We are looking for parishioners who may be interested in exploring an opportunity for prison ministry in the Enfield /Somers area. Presently, Deacon Michael Torres, the chaplain at Cybulski Correction facility, is using a program which brings the word of God to those imprisoned and who are seeking to know more about God. This program would also be used by the volunteers with the inmates and is easily learned and utilized and does not require previous ministry or catechism experience. St. Matthew Preschool Registration and Open House Registration has started for the 2017/2018 school year! The 3 year olds meet on Tuesday and Thursday from 8:45 am till 11:45 am and the 4 year olds meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8:45 am till 11:45 am. We are an accredited Music Together Preschool and both classes have a 30 minute structured music class once a week by a certified Music Together teacher. Ministry of Consolation is looking for Volunteers St. Matthew Church has a tremendously wonderful Ministry that provides luncheons after funerals that are held at St. Matthew Church. The Ministry handles all the details from providing the food, to setting up the buffet, to cleaning up afterwards. When a funeral luncheon is requested, the ministry leader contacts volunteers to help. We are  in desperate need of kitchen volunteers (to set up the Parish Hall) and cooks.
