Why Catholic? Program Leads Adults on a Journey through the Catechism

This October parishioners at St. Matthew Church, Tolland CT,  as part of the Norwich Diocese, will take advantage of the time the Church reserves for self-reflection by asking themselves a very important question: Why Catholic? To help find answers, the parish, along with RENEW International, is extending an invitation for adults to join their parish in both discussing and learning more about their faith.

Seeing the overwhelming need for Catholic adults to understand the complexities of their faith, RENEW International, a Roman Catholic organization that focuses on parish renewal programs as well as catechesis for dioceses all around the country, formed Why Catholic? as a faith formation program that offers a journey through The Catechism of the Catholic Church and Scripture in the comfortable environment of small groups.

Gathering in small, prayerful groups, parishioners will have many opportunities to share their faith.  This October participants will explore the theme of “Christian Prayer” where they will encounter the rich tradition of prayer in the Catholic Church and how to integrate them into their daily lives.  The program will continue in Lent with six weeks of small group sharing.

The St. Matthew Church is extremely delighted to be offering these evangelization programs, and looks forward to the spiritual growth it will bring.  Interested adults are strongly encouraged to sign up this September for the program, to begin a memorable journey that will remove the question marks from many aspects of their faith lives and replace them, hopefully, with exclamation points. Sessions start the week of October 3rd, times and days of week vary. There is a small $10.00 cost for the book.

Taste of Why Catholic? – August 27th at 7:30pm in the Parish Hall

Come taste what Why Catholic? is all about and celebrate the beginning of the program! Everyone is welcome to attend. We will have an abbreviated Why Catholic? session to give everyone a taste of how their life can be enriched with a deeper understanding of our Faith. There will be refreshments served.
