St. Matthew Parish Council

The Parish Council is a panel of St. Matthew parishioners who advise the Pastor concerning many different issues which face the church. Membership to the Parish Council is required. Each year around October new Parish Council members are selected during a prayerful selection process as explained in the Parish Council By Laws. Interested individuals must be registered parishioners and must be available for most regularly scheduled meetings (see day and time below) during the selected term. Names may be submitted to the Parish Office, Father Jim or a member of the Parish Council. Contact a current Parish Council member for more details.

All meetings are open to all Parishioners.

Anyone wishing to bring up a subject for consideration is asked to contact the Parish Council Chairperson and ask to be placed on the upcoming agenda.

Members of the Parish Council should:

• be willing to pray together and share a little of time and lots of ideas
• be dedicated to the betterment of the parish community
• be able to assess situations, contribute to discussions, and make informed decisions with others
• have a desire to enrich your own faith and a willingness to grow spiritually
• serve in an advisory role to the pastor
• serve on at least one committee (Faith Formation, Communications, Community Service, Liturgy, Capitol Improvement, Peace and Justice, Pro-Life, Carnival and Nominating Committees)
• be able to reach out to others in the parish community
• reflect on and assess the Parish needs.
